Night Manager ** New Opening ** The Westin London City Hotel and Residences

The Exciting Opportunity

Reporting into the Front Office Manager, the Night Manager assists in managing front office functions and leading staff on the Night Team. This is an incredibly responsible role as the Night Manager is the manager on duty all throughout the night and has ultimate decision-making capabilities and empowerment for all that might occur on shift. In addition to its management remit, the Night Manager must also ensure and effective Front Office experience, including the management of guest and employee satisfaction to maximise the financial performance of the department.

Duties will include the following:

  • Supporting the leadership of the Front Desk team and Night audit team.
  • Monitoring and supporting progress toward Guest Services and Front Desk goals.
  • Ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Being manager on duty and person in charge during the overnight shift in the hotel, managing night employees in all areas of the hotel, ensuring the safety and security of employees, guests and assets.
  • Functions in place of the Front Office Manager in his/her absence.
  • Ensures compliance with all Front Office policies, standards and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Front Office Manager on ways to continually improve departmental service.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • A pleasant, guest-focused demeanour.
  • Flexibility and adaptable to different working conditions & hours.
  • Comfortable working night shifts.
  • High degree of personal responsibility, sound judgement and comfortable making critical, independent decisions.
  • Familiar with and experience in managing hotel crisis management interventions.
  • Forward thinking & promotes new ideas.
  • Oral & written fluency in English. Additional language will be considered a plus.
  • Self-motivation, with a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of Opera PMS.
  • Understanding and appreciation of The Westin brand values.
  • Good effective training & interpersonal skills.
  • Previous extensive experience in the guest services, front desk, or related professional area in 4/5 star hotels. Marriott experience is preferable but not necessary.
  • Hospitality-related degree or diploma desirable.

Where Will You Be Working?

The Westin London City Hotel & Residences will be a key part of the redevelopment of the former Queensbridge House site, as well as an independently operated destination restaurant. The site stretches from Queenhithe Dock – the oldest in London – and runs north to south, bridging across Upper Thames Street and giving it a prominent position over one of the primary arterial routes through the City of London. Highly visible from the South Bank, the hotel will also benefit from panoramic views over the River Thames and will complete the northern riverbank walkway between the Tower of London and Millennium Bridge.

The hotel will be the first under Marriott’s Westin brand in the UK. The hotel’s 222 guest rooms, including 10 suites and Presidential Suite, are designed to offer guests a nature-inspired respite in the centre of a bustling city, expertly balancing a calming palette of natural colours with contrasting tones, textures and materials. The development also includes a fitness and leisure suite, conference facilities, plus a restaurant and wine bar with spectacular views over the River Thames.

The hotel will feature an indoor swimming pool, idyllic 375m² spa and WestinWORKOUT® fitness studio with state-of-the-art TRX® exercise equipment. In addition, 830m² of ultra-modern meeting and event space will be available, including a Junior Ballroom and four meeting rooms, as well as a 24-hour business centre.
