Only a Pavement Away has opened applications for a new first of its kind UK-wide Relationship Manager role, funded by national homeless charity Crisis

The new role, primarily based in London, will see the successful applicant support more than 100 homeless Only A Pavement Away members into careers specifically within the hospitality industry – a responsibility previously non-existent in similar charity roles.

Supporting the homeless across the UK

Working closely alongside charity partners such as Crisis, St Mungo’s, The House of St Barnabas, Centrepoint and Walking with the Wounded, the Relationship Manager will serve as a conduit between these charities and hospitality employers with day-to-day responsibilities, including overseeing job applications, managing the new Only A Pavement Away Jobs Board and attending meetings with new hospitality employers, and charities and associations looking to join Only A Pavement Away.

The successful applicant must possess strong communication and presentation skills and be able to commit to occasional evening and weekend work where required.

The creation of the new role follows on from a highly successful last quarter for Only A Pavement Away during which time the charity raised over £500,000 worth in donations for its ongoing Hospitality Against Homeless campaign and received funding of £15,000 towards its work.

Greg Mangham, Founder of Only A Pavement Away, said:

Nearly two years on and it has been phenomenal to see just how far Only A Pavement Away has come since we launched in October 2018. The fact that we are now able to offer this new role is testament to all of the hard work that we see day in, day out from our employees, supporters and philanthropists and together we are continuing to change the lives of so many vulnerable individuals for the better as a result.

I am extremely grateful to all of our charity partners and in particular Crisis, whose expertise, support and generous funding have proved invaluable at this time and without whom this role wouldn’t exist!

Chris Hancock is Head of Best Practice at Crisis and is delighted to be part of this initiative.

It’s great to see that, with our help, Only a Pavement Away will be able to provide people experiencing homelessness with advice and support as they look to start a career in the hospitality sector.

The pandemic has shown just how crucial it is that we all work together so we’re incredibly proud to play our part in ensuring that people can continue to access the vital services they need to be able to leave homelessness behind for good.

Closing date for applications

Prospective candidates have until Wednesday 19 August to submit a covering letter and CV to Greg Mangham on gregmangham@onlyapavementaway.co.uk. Interviews will take place on Friday 28 August.
